A House Divided

I may live in Tiger Territory but my heart bleeds red and blue! I attended The University of Mississippi from 2006-2010. I graduated in 2010, cheered my freshman year and made some life-long friends. I had the best college experience at Ole Miss. Oxford is such a special place and will always be near and dear to my heart. Little did I know I would marry a tiger graduate and I think Brett could have never guessed in a million years he would end up marrying an Ole Miss Rebel. Life is funny like that.

Let me tell you a little back story. My dad is the biggest LSU fan. He is a huge alumnus and reads articles about LSU daily and listens to radio talk shows etc. He is OBSESSED. He graduated from there and like many Shreveport families, going to games when we were little was just a way of life, still is. There is lots of LSU alumni in Shreveport and we grew up not only going to games in Baton Rouge but going to friend’s houses for watch parties too. Great memories growing up. Another fun coincidence, my brother, Brett, my brother-in-law, Max and my dad were all Kappa Sigs at LSU. Crazy! So needless to say, they all have a lot in common.

I always poke fun with my dad that he let both his daughters attend Ole Miss. Ole Miss and LSU are such rivals so this game has always been a big deal to us. We truly are a house-divided family!! In honor of the big game coming up in October, I wanted to put together a little watch party/tailgate inspiration for the big day!

I guess I’ll start with the tablecloths! They are from Target! Love the quality, they come in almost every color you can think of and lots of sizes. I ordered one of each and folded them in half so I could split the table, half Ole Miss and half LSU. I found the wooden displays at Home Goods. That is always a great source for parties, display pieces etc. I always check there first.

Lots of these items you can find on Amazon. I ordered most of the party supplies from there including the mini popcorn boxes, the mini pizza boxes, the French fry holders, balloons and the checkered sandwich wrappers. I’ll link all of them at the bottom of this post! I designed the stickers and added those to all the packaging. Stickers can always make a big impact and are not costly.

For dessert I made the cookies using my mom’s famous sugar cookie recipe. Everyone loves a cookie! Ordered all my cookie cutters from Amazon as well. I love how the football jerseys turned out! Another fun hack but really cute and cheap are the football brownie bites. I just bought the brownie bites in the pastry section at the grocery store and with white icing added the football markings to make them look like footballs.

I made the cups and napkins! I love a custom cup and napkin! Also, quick advice, if you are interested in ordering any custom paper products you can always email me at caroline@sweetcarolinedesigns.com and I would love to help you out!

Overall, the set-up was pretty easy, cost effective and made a very cute impact. Now on to our outfits! I’ll start with Brett and my dad. They always love wearing their Peter Millar shirts and pullovers. Peter Millar has a great collegiate collection for pretty much every school. My dress is from Maxwell and Geraldine. They are a newer line and I am loving all of their dresses!! If you’ve been following me lately, you probably have noticed that I have been wearing lots of their dresses. This style is such an easy throw on, comes in blue too! I paired mine with some sneakers and this cute sweater from Mallory Patterson Design. Use code CAROLINE20 at checkout for 20% off! Also, this style runs generous so size down if you are in between!

My next thing I wanted to talk about are my bracelets. They are by Allie + Bess and I love them! I have two sets, one for LSU (The Baton Rouge Stack) and one is the Ole Miss (Oxford Stack). They have a collegiate section with pretty much every school! The Oxford stack could be great for Louisiana Tech or SMU or really any school that is Red and Blue. They are sold in stacks of 9, 7, 5 and 3. Use code SweetCaroline20 for 20% off! These would make great gifts, also thinking ahead for Christmas, maybe a stocking stuffer too :) )

The girl's outfits I had custom made from my favorite children’s shop here in Shreveport called The Moppet Shoppe! The owner, Michaela, helped me put these together and I love them so. That Hotty Toddy cross stitch is too much on Margot, I cannot handle the cuteness!! If you are interested in a custom outfit, you can always shoot her a DM. Her account is @themoppetshoppe.

I think that about covers everything! I love the tigers but once a year I’ll be sporting my red and blue! Can’t wait for the big game this year. So glad football is back!!!! Hotty Toddy and Geaux Tigers!!!
