Ghoul's Day

It was a “Ghouls Day!” Mignonne and I love to celebrate anything so why not Halloween but make it cute! Instead of the traditional Halloween colors (orange, black, purple etc.) I decided to create a little Halloween set up thinking outside the box using pinks, black and white. When Party Pickup, an adorable party supply store in Homewood, Alabama reached out to collaborate, I knew it was a match made in heaven! Using their adorable “party in a box” is what I like to call it, it all came together just perfectly. So Mignonne and I baked all weekend and celebrated with cookies, cakes and lots of Halloween treats!

I picked this party bundle, the pink ghost box, and it came with 2 sizes of plates, napkins, straws, cups and I chose a coordinating balloon garland. Talk about easy! That is why I love Party Pickup. They literally already have everything picked out for you and all you have to do is click and order. I mean, how cute did this turn out?

Another great find was this pink buffalo check tablecloth. It comes in about 5 sizes and all under $40. Talk about a steal. The quality is great and the shade of pink matched perfectly. I also already owned these adorable kid chivari chairs. I love throwing parties so I decided to invest in my own set. If you like to throw kid parties a lot, I suggest in investing in some. They come in pink and acrylic too. Great quality and I definitely recommend.

For the table setting, I mixed in lots of candy and used the cups as little candy dishes. Mignonne had too much fun counting the candy corn and dumping them on the table. She may have destroyed the table but at least she had fun!! At each place setting I placed a cookie on each plate. Mignonne and I made these cookies on Saturday! I’m teaching her how to bake young! I hope she likes it as much as I do. For this recipe, you can check out my old blog post here. I used the royal icing for these cookies.

For the backdrop, I ordered these festive bats. I’ve seen them a lot of places and I always thought they were so cute. For the balloon garland, Party Pickup made it so easy. I’ve made plenty of balloon garlands but Party Pickup sent just the right amount of balloons in assorted sizes, plus a balloon air pump, fishing wire and instructions. So EASY! It was the perfect length too.

For Mignonne’s “witch outfit” or unicorn headband…not sure what she wanted to be but it didn’t matter because she looked cute no matter what! I found the shirt, hat, leggings and shoes all at Target. Also, the tutu was from Target too. I thought it would be fun to match the décor!

Now a party would not be complete in our family without a cake. I always make my cakes from scratch. It never disappoints and always turns out delicious. The recipe was from an old Southern Living Magazine several years ago and has always been my favorite. I’ll share the recipe below plus the almond buttercream icing! Seriously the BEST!! The cute bat cake toppers were found here and just the right amount of spooky.

We had a “Spook-tac-ular” time! Hope you get a little Halloween inspiration and a Happy Halloween!! On another note, Mignonne is the ultimate “party crasher” She always enjoys my set ups and parties so much but destroys them. But honestly, I don’t care! I just love that she has fun! She always says, “Oooo Mama, I wanna eat cakes!” Sweet Girl! Anyways thanks for reading and hope you enjoy the recipe too!
